The Barcelona City Council has launched an Information Point on Alzheimer's and Other Dementias, a service designed to offer guidance and resources to those affected, as well as their families and caregivers.
This new space, located in Espai Barcelona Cuida (Barcelona Cares Space), aims to provide up-to-date and personalized information to help people make decisions and improve their well-being throughout all stages of the disease.
Comprehensive Support Service
The information point has specialized professionals who offer support in several key areas:
- Information on the diagnosis and progression of the disease
- Guidance on social and healthcare services available in the city
- Emotional and social support
- Advice on rights, benefits, and procedures
- Information on community activities and initiatives
This service is aimed at both people diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other dementias and their immediate family and friends. Networking with leading organizations
The project has been jointly developed with specialized organizations such as Alzheimer Catalunya Fundació, the Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer's and other Dementias of Barcelona (AFAB), and the Uszheimer Foundation, all members of the Taula Barcelona por el Alzheimer (Barcelona Alzheimer's Roundtable).
This collaboration strengthens the community-based approach and ensures more personalized and coordinated care.
Open access without appointment
The service is free and does not require an appointment. Support is offered weekly at different times:
1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays of the month: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
